Hack App Data is an Android app that lets you view and edit data stored by other apps.
Hack App Data does exactly what the app’s name suggests it does. It gives you the ability to “hack” the various data that apps write to the internal storage of your Android device or even an SD card. Hack in this sense means to access and manipulate in a manner not intended by the app developer. Hack App Data is freeware, and there are no in-app advertisements or similar elements.
When you launch Hack App Data, you’ll be presented with a simple menu that has four buttons: User Apps, System Apps, Backup List and Help. User Apps provides you a list of apps that you have installed—or that came with the phone but can be uninstalled. System Apps provides a list of apps that are deemed critical to the system. Backup List provides a list of apps that you’ve backed up, which lets you restore them in the event that something goes wrong during editing.
If a user app or system app has saved data on your device—and almost all will—Hack App Data lets you view that data. View takes on different meanings depending the format of said data. Hack App Data can even play the data in the cases where data is video, music or some other media. This app also gives you the tools to edit that data in many cases. This is perhaps most useful when that data is stored in a text file or its stored in a database.
Hack App Data present three types of information: Basic Info, Preference and Database. Basic Info shows general information about an APK, such as name, size, build time, installation time and so forth. Preference shows the data stored in SharedPreferences, which is where user settings are generally saved, but other data like high scores can be saved there as well. Database provides you access to the entries that the app has stored in the SQLite database that Android provides apps.
Hack App Data has built-in help files as well, and these are perhaps surprisingly robust. A person with the technical aptitude to make use of this app will find his or her early experiences a bit easier thanks to these guides. Be mindful that this is not an app for casual users. You’ll need some technical understanding of the Android environment to make use of this app.
Hack App Data does require root privileges. If your phone isn’t rooted, then you’ll be able to view app data but not edit it. It’s also worth noting that this app provides the potential to corrupt apps and even an entire Android installation. There is a backup feature, but restoring won’t fix the issue in all cases.
